的atre: Youth 的atre

In the theatre program, students are exposed to every aspect of theatre: literature, 历史, 理论, 代理, 导演, design and technical theatre. 学生 may audition for the Treehouse Troupe, a touring children’s theatre company, which performs and conducts workshops in elementary schools throughout northwest Ohio.

Quality classroom experiences

学生 receive a solid liberal arts foundation and develop refined analytical and 沟通 skills, in addition to the skills and techniques required for youth theatre. Participation 在 Treehouse Troupe provides class credit and practical experience in 代理, 导演 and producing children’s theatre.

学生 in this program earn a Bachelor of 艺术 in Communication degree with a specialization in youth theatre. In addition to the liberal arts curriculum, theatre majors complete a series of three seminar courses on professional development and career preparation culminating with a senior portfolio review and audition. A liberal arts program in youth theatre cultivates an array of skills needed 在 21st Century workplace such as problem-solving, 创造力, 沟通, and collaboration.



的 award-winning Treehouse Troupe performs and conducts classroom workshops in elementary schools throughout northwest Ohio.

的 department annually awards a number of competitive scholarships to qualified undergraduate students and has various student employment opportunities, which allow students to develop their craft while receiving financial compensation.

学生 may apply for the BGSU exchange program with the University of Wales, the largest undergraduate theatre program in Great Britain and home of the prestigious Performance 博天堂官方网站 Centre. 的 London Experience, an intensive immersion 在 London theatre scene, offers students another education abroad opportunity.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students 在atre will be able to:

  • Analyze diverse performance texts from various historical periods and cultural backgrounds in order to make effective aesthetic decisions as a theatre scholar/artist;
  • Use performance as the site and process for critical, cultural, and historical understandings;
  • 博天堂官方网站 and communicate ideas and feelings in written, 视觉, and/or oral forms in order to articulate a conceptual and critical approach to theatrical production;
  • Work collaboratively to solve specific production requirements as actor, 导演, 设计师, and/or technician;
  • Present skills and knowledge as a theatre scholar/artist in a professional format.
